The Finals Series provides competitive and balanced matches for all teams. The finals series commences on Monday 16th February and concludes on Tuesday 10th March. Depending on the number of teams, divisions use either a Swiss-style format or a pool round-robin format.
Teams have been placed into finals divisions based primarily on their overall competition ranking at the conclusion of the regular season. When forming divisions, organisers also ensured that age eligibility requirements were respected and made minor adjustments where necessary to maintain fair and balanced groupings.
Key principles of the finals structure:
If circumstances arise that are not specifically addressed within these rules, organisers will determine the outcome based on the principles of fairness, safety, and competitive balance.
Finals standings are separate from regular season standings. Competition points earned during the finals series apply only to finals matches and do not include or carry over any points from the regular season.
During Swiss rounds and pool rounds, teams receive:
Standings are determined by total points earned.
If teams are level on points, standings are determined in the following order:
No other match statistics are used to determine standings.
A forced bye occurs when scheduling requires a team to sit out a round.
A voluntary bye is an absence advised before 5:00pm on the Friday prior to the draw being published.
Once the draw has been released, any team that fails to attend its scheduled match will be treated as a forfeit, not a voluntary bye.
Voluntary byes allow organisers to plan the draw more effectively and minimise disruption for other teams.
A voluntary bye is treated differently from a forfeit because it is arranged in advance and allows scheduling to proceed smoothly.
If a team forfeits:
If games cannot be played due to weather or venue issues:
Borrowing players is permitted during the finals series to help matches proceed where teams are short on numbers.
Borrowed players must:
These limits maintain competitive balance while allowing games to proceed.
Divisions with six teams use a 3-round Swiss tournament followed by a Grand Final.
| Matches |
|---|
| Seed 1 vs Seed 2 |
| Seed 3 vs Seed 4 |
| Seed 5 vs Seed 6 |
This opening round promotes competitive matches and reduces the chance of immediate Grand Final rematches.
After Round 3:
Teams are divided into two pools:
Odd Seeds Pool β 1, 3, 5, 7 Even Seeds Pool β 2, 4, 6, 8
Each pool plays a 3-round round-robin, with every team playing all other teams in its pool.
| Odd Pool | Even Pool | |
|---|---|---|
| Seed 1 vs Seed 7 | Seed 2 vs Seed 8 | |
| Seed 3 vs Seed 5 | Seed 4 vs Seed 6 |
| Odd Pool | Even Pool | |
|---|---|---|
| Seed 1 vs Seed 5 | Seed 2 vs Seed 6 | |
| Seed 3 vs Seed 7 | Seed 4 vs Seed 8 |
| Odd Pool | Even Pool | |
|---|---|---|
| Seed 1 vs Seed 3 | Seed 2 vs Seed 4 | |
| Seed 5 vs Seed 7 | Seed 6 vs Seed 8 |
A 7-team division follows the same structure as an 8-team division, with the eighth position treated as a BYE. So as not to penalise the team with the bye, the team is awarded two points (the same as a win).
Grand Finals do not include extra time or penalty shootouts. The result is decided as follows:
Grand Final winners will receive a medal presentation at the conclusion of their match. Teams are asked to move to the designated presentation area after the final whistle so presentations can take place.
Teams that do not qualify for a Grand Final continue to play matches during the finals period.

The finals structure is designed to keep games competitive, fair, and enjoyable for all teams. We appreciate the support of players, coaches, and families in helping make the finals series a positive experience for everyone involved.
